01.09.2021: Etosha part II
In the afternoon, we booked a sundowner drive in the lodge’s private reserve. And honestly — falling in love with African sunsets is inevitable. There’s just no way around it.
This morning, a guided tour through Etosha was on the agenda. Once again, it turned into an unforgettable experience. The sheer vastness of the landscape, the almost surreal atmosphere — and then those massive herds of antelope 🤩🤩… truly beyond imagination.
We were treated to incredible wildlife encounters: watching leopards right from the vehicle, giraffes, elephants with the cutest baby elephants 😍, wildebeest, zebras, impalas, kudus, eland, dik-diks, jackals, ostriches, lions, hyenas, cheetahs — and countless bird species, including the kori bustard and the secretary bird. I honestly don’t even know where to stop 🤷🏼♂️😆.
Even back at the lodge, the wildlife never stopped. From our own waterhole, we could continue watching animals wander by 🤩 — and last night, while we were having dinner, two elephants casually joined us at the scene 🤩.
So yes… as you can see, we’ve been pretty busy out here 🤣😂😆
02.09.2021: Etosha part III
Today it was time to say goodbye — goodbye to the overwhelming wilderness, the endless horizons, and the extraordinary wildlife of Etosha National Park. As our adventure slowly begins to draw to a close, we headed back toward Windhoek yesterday, covering a fair few kilometers.
We stopped for one night at the beautiful Frans Indongo Lodge, the perfect place to pause and breathe. During sundowners at the lodge’s own waterhole, we watched animals move through the darkness beneath the southern stars and the glowing Milky Way. A round of Canasta followed — the perfect finale 😉😂.
Just before bedtime, things got briefly dramatic 🤯😳😱 when a rather large spider decided to make an appearance in the kids’ room. After I heroically removed it — risking my life in the process — my reward was… sleeping alone in the kids’ room. The chicas opted to share the other room 🤷🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️.
Spoiler alert 🚨: I survived the night 😂🤩😆
