29.08.2022: san francisco

Before reaching our final stop in San Francisco, we added another 17 miles — the legendary 17-Mile Drive around Monterey. It feels almost unreal: mystical, moss-covered trees, rugged cliffs above the wild Pacific, and in between… incredible homes and no fewer than seven golf courses.

Since we had to return the car today, we made the most of our last drive and headed to the viewpoint across from the Golden Gate Bridge — which, luckily, revealed itself in full glory. After taking in the bridge and skyline from every angle, we continued to Lombard Street and, of course, drove down its famous eight hairpin turns.

Then came the moment we’d been avoiding — unloading all the suitcases and shopping bags at the hotel before returning the cars. Altogether, we covered an impressive 2,900 kilometers across the American West 🫣🫣💪🏼.

We ended the day playing pool and table tennis — a relaxed finish to an epic stretch of the journey.

30.08.2022: hop on hop off

Today we explored the city aboard a hop-on hop-off bus, cruising across San Francisco from one neighborhood to the next. We started at Fisherman’s Wharf, rolled through downtown and the Financial District, past the Painted Ladies, on to Chinatown, and then toward Union Square.

From there, we walked down Market Street and fully immersed ourselves in the rhythm of the city. It’s wild how quickly the days are flying by — slowly, but unmistakably. ✨
