27.08.2022: Beachday

After what we’ll politely call a slightly different breakfast than the past few days 😂, we realized there were still a few shops in downtown we hadn’t explored… so, one more round 🤪🤪.

Once it felt like we’d covered just about every last store, it was finally time to slow down at the beach. Taking a break by the Pacific just hits differently — calming, grounding, exactly what we needed.

Somehow, the day slipped away again far too quickly. In the evening, we found a fantastic Italian spot in downtown, complete with live music — the perfect atmosphere to wind down.
And just like that, another beautiful day came to an end way too fast.

28.08.2022: next stop Monterey

Today was the longest drive on the itinerary — and probably the most beautiful: Highway 1 from Santa Barbara to Monterey. The morning started a little hazy, but the sun gradually broke through, revealing the raw beauty of California’s rugged coastline.

After about five hours on the road, we reached our stop just before San Francisco — Monterey. In the afternoon, we wandered through this cool little town, once famous for its sardine fishing and canning industry.

Our biggest surprise came from a large colony of California sea lions, loudly and endlessly “chatting” among themselves 🤣😂 — the perfect soundtrack to an already unforgettable day.
