25.08.2022: chillin in la
Today we treated ourselves to one more relaxed day in LA. After sleeping in a little longer and fueling up at our go-to breakfast spot, The Cow’s End, it was straight back to Venice Beach.
We strolled past the iconic Muscle Beach — where even Arnie once trained — before settling down on the sand. Lying there felt like stepping straight into the ’90s, into a certain beachside TV series… Baywatch. Honestly, it felt so good to simply slow down for a while.
In the evening, we returned to the skatepark and even ran into the Oswald family. At one point, there was a brief hormonal moment among the female travelers when one of the skaters rolled by shirtless 🫣😳😳.
Our final stop of the day was the Santa Monica Pier, where we took in the lights of the Ferris wheel. Once again, a beautiful day full of impressions — the kind you need a little time to fully process.
26.08.2022: up the highway #1
Today it was time to say goodbye again — LA was an incredible stop and truly won us all over. After one last breakfast at The Cow’s End, we hit the road and started the first stretch of Highway 1 toward Santa Barbara.
After a stop at El Matador Beach, we arrived at our new accommodation around midday. Since our room wasn’t ready yet, we headed into town for a relaxed walk. Santa Barbara is a beautiful city, strongly shaped by Latino influences and an easy, laid-back atmosphere.
Since Covid, the main promenade has been closed to cars, which meant we could wander freely down the street, taking in the details and the vibe at our own pace.
We ended the evening in a cool Mexican restaurant — the perfect close to another memorable day on the road. 🌅🌴🌮✨
