19.08.2022: Navajo land
At 16:00, our tour finally began. Together with our Navajo guide, we drove deep into the vast prairie landscapes of Monument Valley. It never stops being impressive — moving through scenery like this feels almost surreal. If only the rocks and sand could speak, imagine the stories they would tell.
Our guide shared a wealth of knowledge along the way, giving deeper meaning to formations like the Mitten, the Three Sisters, the Dragon, and so many others we admired in awe.
Exhausted from the endless impressions and the wonderfully bumpy 3.5-hour ride, we ended the day back on the terrace with dinner together — and celebrated Leni’s 18th birthday right into the night 🎉🥳🎈🎊🎁🍾.
20.08.2022: grand canyon
Today it was time to head for the biggest canyon on Earth — the Grand Canyon. After about three hours on the road, we arrived… and were completely blown away.
No photo can prepare you for what it feels like to stand there in person. The scale is simply overwhelming — vast, humbling, and almost impossible to grasp. We moved slowly between different viewpoints, letting the immensity sink in before eventually heading to our accommodation.
The perfect finale to the day was Leni’s birthday dinner at the historic El Tovar, right on the canyon rim — a setting as unforgettable as the day itself. 🌄✨
