18.08.2022: Cowboyland

Today we continued toward Monument Valley — but not before making a quick detour to Lake Powell. It’s wild to see what’s happening out there between the winding canyons and coves: tour boats, speedboats, jet skis — the whole scene unfolding against a surreal desert backdrop.

The drive toward Monument Valley itself was once again beautifully varied and full of character. We even ran straight into a heavy thunderstorm, complete with flooded roads we carefully pushed through 🫣🫣 — just another reminder that road trips always come with a little unpredictability.

After arriving at our lodge and checking in, we immediately booked tomorrow’s outing with a Navajo guide. In the evening, we kept things simple — a relaxed casual bite 😜😝🤣😂🤣 followed by a quiet nightcap 🍻🍷 on the terrace, soaking in the calm before the next adventure.

19.08.2022: Forrest Gump & Cinnamon rolls

Today we took it a little slower and finally slept in. After a late breakfast, we drove out to the
Forrest Gump Point — the exact stretch of road where, in the film, he suddenly decides to stop running.

Since our tour didn’t start until 16:00, we spent the rest of the time exactly the way it should be spent: coffee and cinnamon rolls in front of our accommodation, simply slowing down and enjoying the moment.
